56th SESSION OF THE COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS
- APRIL 2000
|
| |
17.04.00. Mr. Wei JINGSHENG, on behalf of
the Transnational Radical Party delievered a
statement under item 18 criticizing China's so-called
non-governmental organizations of the Chinese government, saying
that "most of the human rights work is done by individuals in the
opposite groups. Most of this kind of human rights work is disturbed
and suppressed by the Chinese government". Mr. Wei was criticized
by Chinese diplomats at the Commission.
13.04.00. On Wednesday 12.4, the Transnational Radical
Party participated in the 56th Session of the United Nations Commission
on Human Rights delivering
a statement under item 13 (rights of the Child). Ms.
Regina LOUF of Belgium, member of the Radical Delegation
to the Geneva Commission, presented her personal case as the victim
of a sex ring active in Belgium in systematically abusing, torturing
and murdering children.
11.04.00. The Hon. Akhiad Idigov, spoke
on behalf of TRP during the last debate on his country. "Since 1991"
said Mr. Idigov, "the international community has remained silent,
allowing lawlessness to prevail in Chechnya. How many more innocent
victims must perish? How many more tears must be shed by children
and women who have lost their homes and families? Chechen refugees
are deprived even of the right to refugee status, as well as freedom
of movement everywhere, including in Europe." Mr. Idigov was stopped
once by the Russian delegation while speaking.
11.04.00. Huang Ciping, a Chinese woman living
and working in the U.S. delivered
today a statement on women rights in China on behalf
of TRP. The document, prepared by the most prominent Chinese dissident
Mr. Wei Jingsheng, denounces the systematic violation of women rights,
who are treated like slaves or animals. "Under the one Party dictatorship
of the Chinese Communist Party" wrote Mr. Jingsheng "millions have
lived and still live in prisons. Yet, there are even more women
that had to, and still have to, suffer along, to be supportive to
their loved ones and be courageous [...] let us listen closely to
their stories and their cry. Let us care about their pain and their
suffering. This should be our responsibility."
06.04.00. The Transnational Radical Party presented
a statement on the Chechen
situation asking the Commission to create an international
investigative body to document the alleged violations of International
Humanitarial Law. The petition was presented by the Hon. Akhyad
IDIGOV, on behalf of TRP.
30.03.2000. Intervention
d'Emma Bonino
"Monsieur le Président, Mesdames et Messieurs, ce n'est pas
d'un coeur léger que j'ai pris la décision de venir à cette tribune,
grâce à laquelle j'ai pu dénoncer par le passé les méfaits d'autorités
qui excercent un pouvoir sans partage dans des pays dépourvus d'institutions
démocratiques; aujourd'hui je viens vous parler de mon propre pays,
l'Italie... "
