Conference: Israel in the European Union

Message of Elie WIESEL:

"Your international Conference in favor of full integration of Israel in the EU is important, even urgent, and therefore I so wish I could accept and be with you in Brussels. To my regret, I already have commitments at that time that cannot be changed".

Message of Amos OZ:

"Thank you for your kind fax of February 11th inviting me to join your proposed conference on the integration of Israel as a full member of the European Union.

I think this is a wonderful idea which could even enhance the support of the Peace Movement in Israel by reassuring Israel that in taking risks by parting with occupied territory and enabling the creation of an independent Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza they will not find themselves yet again in unspendid isolation. However, unfortunately, I cannot come to Brussels in March due to previous committments.

My thoughts and heart are with you in this conference.
