by Gabriella Friso (Radical Party member and member of the board of the radical association Certi Diritti)
The last Congress of the NRPTT, held in Rome in December 2011, approved a recommendation of mine addressing the issue of incoming refugees to Italy from Libya:
Considering what is taking place in these days and the absence of the government on the matter, I think this is the appropriate time to intervene and ask the government to issue a permit on humanitarian grounds, similar to the one released to refugees form Tunisia.

Burma / Emma Bonino: Aung San Suu Kyi’s victory marks the beginning of a difficult journey

It is perhaps the beginning of a difficult and complicated journey for a region narrowed between great powers. Hers is an act of great courage and hope, which has gone through 15 years of house arrest without abandoning the dialectic of nonviolence.” She is aware of the necessity of exploring any possible way to keep momentum” "This is the comment that Emma Bonino delivered to Tgcom24 on the victory by Burma's opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, in the by-election of April 1st.

Italy has violated articles of the ECHR

Sir, Emma Bonino, Timothy Garton Ash and other European dignitaries have rightly signaled a worrying proposal put forward by the British Government to amend the European Convention on Human Rights, ECHR, to "ease" the work of the Strasbourg Court, which in fact has been clogged by all sorts of cases from virtually all members states of the Council of Europe.

Focus on implementing the last round of ECHR reforms

Sir, At a time when Europeans are beset by economic and political uncertainties, the UK is using its current chairmanship of the Council of Europe to push for reforms of the European Court of Human Rights.
Britain says it wants to help the overburdened court become more efficient by focusing its work on important human rights issues.
