USSR - DRUGS: RADICALS TOOK PART AT CONFERENCE ON PROBLEMS OF NARCOLOGY IN MOSCOW

(Moscow, 30-31 October, 1991) - The Inter-Regional Conference on Problems of Narcology in Salut Hotel was organized by Moscow city soviet. About 50 physicians, lawyers, militiamen, sociologists, priests and other specialists together with representatives of some public and political organizations discussed during two days of problem of drugs in the USSR.
Two Radical activists from Sankt-Petersburg - Fedor Chub and Valerij Sokolov - took part at this conference being included into the delegation of Sankt-Petersburg city soviet's Commission for Human Rights. Speaking during the discussion they delineated absolute ineffectuality of the prohibitionist drug policy. They spoke about the necessity at least to decriminalize usage of drugs. Radicals explained also the essence of proposals to calm the harm of drugs offered by Radical Party, IAL and CORA.
The recommendation about organization of private, non-governmental services to help drug users and about tax advantages for commercial structures doing mercy (first of all for drug users), given by Radical participants, were included into final document of the conference.
