UN/ECOSOC Letter by Kok Ksor to Marco Pannella
Tweet
August 2, 2004
Dear Marco Pannella:
On behalf of the Montagnard people, I would like to extend my deepest appreciation and thanks to you and all of the TRP leaders and members who have been working so hard to defend and protect TRP from being expelled from the United Nations.
Especially, I would like to thank you Mr. Marco Pannella, Ms. Emma Bonnino, Mr. Sergio Stanzani, Mr. Marco Capato, Mr. Marco Perduca, and Mr. Matteo Mecacci for all your efforts to defeat Vietnam at the United Nations ECOSOC. You not only defeated Vietnam at the highest level in the United Nations System but you have also saved hundreds of thousands of Montagnard people’s lives in the Central Highlands. If Vietnam would have won at the ECOSOC, they would have been encouraged, felt justified in their persecutions. They would surely have lost all precaution and inhibition in the operation to kill hundreds of thousands of Montagnard people, especially those who participated in the peaceful demonstrations last April.
I realize, of course, that this current success doesn’t mean that they will stop killing our people, or even curtail their efforts. But at least now, we retain the ability to record and report their evil doings. Eventually, their criminal record will be too large for the world to overlook and hopefully we will gain more friends, democracies as allies.
Our new focus is the establishment of international monitoring teams in the Central Highlands. The UN and human rights organizations must have an official presence there, and so we will redouble our efforts to establish these offices.
Again, thank you and may God bless you,
Kok.
