(Kiev, March 26, 1992) - About 20 Radical militants participated today at the opening of new Radical Party's office in Kiev.
The main question in the agenda of this first reunion was the urgent campaign to abolish death penalty in Ukraine, which was initiated by Radical Party in this month. Nikolaj Khramov informed about the Resolution A3-0062/92 passed by European Parliament at March 12, and also about the letters signed by Radical Party's leadership which are addressed to Mr Kravchuk and Mr Andreotti.
Andrej Koval, vice president of Ukrainian Social Democratic Party and member of Radical Party, underlined the urgency to begin petition campaign against death penalty before Ukrainian parliament will pass the new criminal code. Its draft which has to be discussed soon, provides capital punishment in more than 20 cases, including so called "economic crimes".
It was confirmed that demonstration for abolishing death penalty in Ukraine will take place on Tuesday, March 31, at 5:00 PM in front of residence of President of Ukrainian Republic, Mr Kravchuk (Bankovska 11), while Radicals in European capitols will deliver the letters at the same day to ex-Soviet embassies in their countries.
During the reunion three new members joined Radical Party for this year, among them - Olga Lenj, secretary of Ukrainian Students' Union.
