SOS FALUN GONG: LET'S SAVE THE FALUNGON PRACTITIONERS FROM THE KILLINGS IN CHINA TUESDAY, 25 SEPTEMBER 2001: NATIONAL DAY FOR THE FALUN GONG


Rome, 24 September 2001. On Tuesday 25 September - Hands Off Cain and the Transnational Radical Party, together with the Falun Gong are promoting in Rome a series of activities to denounce the persecutions against the Falun Gong in China. The Falung Gong is an ancient Chinese spiritual practice that in eight years has grown to become the most popular form of qigong ever in Chinese history. During the last few years the Falun Gong have been violently repressed by the Chinese authorities.
From July 1999 to August 2001, in China there have been more than 100.000 arrests, over 280 people have died after having been tortured, over 5,000 have been imprisoned, over 20,000 have been interned in labor camps, over 1,000 have been sent to mental institutions, millions of people have been deprived of their human rights and millions of books, videotapes, and other literature have been confiscated and destroyed.
Moreover, China, is applying on a massive scale the death penalty, in fact, over 1,800 people have been executed in the first six months of 2001 alone creating a situation of real humanitarian emergency.

Program of the Day

9 - 13 am: Piazza Montecitorio: presentation to the public for signature of a petition to the Italian Parliament on the Falun Gong.

10:30 am: Falun Gong practice in seven Roman Squares: P.za Montecitorio; P.za S. Giovanni; P.za della Repubblica; Termini Railway Station; P.za Vittorio; P.za Campo dei Fiori; Pantheon.

12:30 pm:, Piazza Montecitorio: Press Conference at the presence of the promoters, MPs signatories of the petition, as well as Falun Gong practitioners from all over the world.

3 - 6 pm: March from Piazza Trinità dei Monti to the Chinese Embassy.

6:30 pm: at the Transnational Radical Party HQ in via di Torre Argentina 76, presentation and Q&A session on the fundamental principles and practices of the Falun Gong

9:30 - 11 pm: Gathering at Trinità dei Monti for a meditation and practice of the Falun Gong and candlelight.
