Senate, 27 July: the program of the Conference "Universality of Human Rights for the transition towards the Rule of Law and the affirmation of the Right to Know"

With the official endorsement of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Nonviolent Radical Party, Hands Off Cain and No Peace Without Justice have convened the Conference: “Universality of Human Rights for the transition towards the Rule of Law and the affirmation of the Right to Know”. The event will be held Monday 27 July from 9:00 at the Italian Senate in Rome, in the Defence Committee room.

Participants include Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy Paolo Gentiloni, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Benedetto Della Vedova, Justice Minister Marou Amadou of Niger, Secretary of State at the Tunisian Ministry of Finance Boutheina Ben Yaghlane Ben Slimane, former Algerian Prime Minister Sid Ahmed Ghozali, former Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi di Sant'Agata, Member of the Icelandic Parliament Birgitta Jónsdóttir, French Senator André Gattolin, Secretary of Radicali Italiani Rita Bernardini, professor Jianli Yang, ALDE Party President Sir Graham Watson, Furio Colombo, Aldo Masullo, Marco Pannella and many others.

The event continues on the path of the Brussels Conference “Rule of Law versus Reason of State”, held in February 2014, and the subsequent presentations held in Geneva, London, Paris, Rome and Naples. The main goals are to continue the initiative taken one year and a half ago, to expand on the objective of the affirmation of the Right to Know at the UN and to promote the common transition towards the Rule of Law of the European and Arab-Muslim world.

Promoters of the Conference, who will not be able to attend the event, include Fausto Bertinotti, former President of the Chamber of Deputies, Ambassador Giuseppe Cassini, Lord Steel of Aikwood former leader of the British Liberal-Democrats, and Louis Michel MEP and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium.
