Minister Terzi at the 39th NRPTT Congress
From Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 next we will hold the final session of the 39th Congress of the Nonviolent Radical Party, Transnational and Transparty. Last Saturday, and we thank him for that, the new Italian Foreign Minister, Ambassador Giulio Terzi di Sant'Agata, confirmed to Marco Pannella his presence at the inauguration of the second session with his speech. We really appreciate his efforts to be with us as we know how intense his agenda for that weekend is. We are sincerely thankful for his important choice.
As you know, the Radical Party, as always demonstrated that anybody can become a member regardless of their geographical o political origin as long as they paid their yearly membership fee - that varies from country to country. As Marco Pannella often reminds us, we could say that "becoming a member of the Nonviolent Radical Party, Transnational and Transparty is a human rights that belongs to anybody [...] our history shows that the highest representatives of both center-left and center-right politicians in Italy and elsewhere have joined the Party over the years, and many prominent political leader the world over still are with us".
The second session of our Congress will be an important opportunity because some 90 among friends and fellow Radical members from 45 countries have confirmed their participation in the Rome event but also because we believe that at the center of our debate there will be the analysis of the concept of “real democracy" that manifest itself daily at the internal level both in Italy and Europe with the disrespect of our own legality and the negation of constitutional and international obligations, and that also demonstrates it incapacity to provide political and structural responses to the changes in the Mediterranean, in Africa not tom mention the challenges of a globalisation that is moving its center of gravity towards East. That of the Radical Party is historically a radically European federalist position, a stance that now needs to evolve into global federalism based on the international Rule of Law.
When we started to work on the convening of the second session we feared that we would have not been able to secure the presence of many and qualified participants. Thanks to the tireless work of Emma Bonino and Marco Pannella, we can once again confirm the participation of legislators, human rights advocates from all over the world and the presence of European Commission Antonio Tajani, the former Hungarian Premier Gordon Bajnai, and former Foreign Ministers Bernard Kouchner and Joshka Fisher.
As said, the debate will be articulated also in three thematic committees where, after some introductory presentation, the will need to concentrate our exchanges on the definition of the future objectives for the Party. The committees are:
- Antiprohibitionisms on “drugs", science and individual choices.
- Human Rights, Democracy and Legality.
- Environment, Ecological Debt and Demography.
In order to allow to everyone the possibility to contribute to the debates, we will invite you to identify as soon as possible in which committee you believe you would like to address the Congress preparing a presentation of maximum 10 minutes. Everybody will also have the opportunity to speak again during the general debate, but we believe that the thematic debate should be exploited to the fullest.
For those of you that may have not renewed their membership here is how to do it http://www.radicalparty.org/it/donation
See you soon!
