SADDAM OUT!
PRESS CONFERENCE BY MARCO PANNELLA AND EMMA BONINO
THURSDAY 13 FEBRUARY 2003, 11.00 a.m.
STRASBOURG
EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT PRESS ROOM LOW N-1
Strasbourg, 12 February 2003. On Thursday 13 February, three days after the suspension of their political activities in Italy, Marco Pannella and Emma Bonino will hold a press conference at the European Parliament to provide an update on the proposal launched by Marco Pannella: "Saddam must go. A democratic government sponsored by the UN must be established".
Pannella's proposal for a solution to the dramatic Iraqi emergency was launched on 20 January. Since then the proposal has been signed by 13,000 people from 110 countries, and has received public backing from many leading Italian and international figures. Hardly a day has gone by without further support, statements or comments pouring in, but they have so far been censored.
In order to oppose and denounce this "democratic Fascism", ostracism and censorship against the Italian people more effectively, on Monday 10 February Marco Pannella and Emma Bonino suspended all activities in Italy, all relations with the media, and suspended the broadcasting of Radio Radicale, a radio that has been existing for 27 years. Marco Pannella and Emma Bonino, after three days of silence, will speak again during the press conference at the European Parliament on Thursday 13 February.
