Recently, the Autonomous Region's officials have indicated that within 6 years, the region will invest over 100 million Yuan to displace 650,000 ecological immigrants in order to completely recover the damage of fragile eco-system caused by human-animal impacts and get rid of poverty of the immigrants as soon as possible.

Over the past decade, due to the severe drought and over-grazing, Inner Mongolian grassland eco-system has been seriously damaged, and many herders' native lands became water-shortage and grass-shortage areas. In recent years, the Chinese government has implemented a large-scale ecological immigration project, resettling the herders to the areas with better environmental condition. In recent 3 years, over 30,000 people have successfully been displaced.
