Immigration, Perduca: ECHR beacon of legality. Italy should learn the lesson, former minister Maroni should apologize and leave

Statement by Senator Marco Perduca, co-vicepresident of the senate of the Nonviolent Radical Party, Transnational and Transparty:
"Once again the European Court of Human Rights confirms that in Italy's human rights-related international legal obligations are systematically violated. After countless sentences concerning the administration of justice, today the Court goes against the policy of refoulement of former Minister Maroni that some within the Democratic Party believed should lead a government of "democratic transition" after the demise of Berlusconi".
Today's sentence is a beacon that should illuminate the murky negotiations with North African countries concerning immigration, Lybia to start with. Form months, in total solitude, we denounced the decisions of the Berlusconi government saying that where legality destroyed lifes are also destroyed; unfortunately we anticipated all that when Mr. Berlusconi, Mr. Frattini, Mr. Maroni and Mr. D'Alema had chosen Qadafi as teir strategic partner. Our parliamentary questions concerning the Tripoli Declaration and the publicization of the new immigration agreements with Lybia, Tunisia and Egypt have not been answered yet. I hope that after today attention will be given to those questions.
Lastly, as far as the responsible for the refoulement is concerned, Mister Maroni should at least apologize for those thave have been deported and with that put and end to shi political career to limit the damage he has done to national and international legality.
