Today, the Transnational Radical Party staged a demonstration in front of the Italian Prime Minister office in Rome to denounce the political and financial support of the Italian Government to the Tunisian regime. Form more information and pictures of the demonstration see www.radicalparty.org
At the same time the 8 Tunisian opposition leaders, who have conducted a hunger strike for over a month, have announced the suspension of this initiative and have launched the creation of a coordination committee of all opposition forces.
In the press conference held in Tunis, Ayachi Hammami, lawyer and Secretary General of the Tunisian Section of the Tunisian League of Human Rights, has read the press release of the Transnational Radical Party supporting their nonviolent action, thanking all the over 70 participants who have joined the hunger strike promoted by the TRP. The Coordination Committee of the Tunisian Opposition has announced that it will continue to work with international partners including the TRP in order to be able to sustain the reaction of the Tunisian regime to this nonviolent action.
