On the occasion of the visit of King Abdullah II of Jordan to the European Parliament, today, Wednesday 12 June, Emma Bonino and over 60 Members of the European Parliament have written to the King to request a Royal pardon for Ms Toujan al-Faisal, former Jordianian Member of Parliament, sentenced to 18 months in prison for exercising her freedom of speech.

Ms Toujan al-Faisal has been on hunger strike for the last two weeks and is now hospitalised.

“We hope that the King, on the occasion of his presence in Strasbourg, will be able to reassure Members of the European Parliament on the fate of Toujan al-Faisal" MEP Emma Bonino stated.
