Dear friends,
Please find attached the letter that Amnesty International and the International Service for Human Rights sent this morning to all ECOSOC members on the recommendation by the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations to suspend for three years the consultative status of your organization. Amnesty International shares the concerns of many other human rights NGOs that this recommendation was made on the basis of unsubstantiated allegations and is not in conformity with the requirements of ECOSOC resolution 1996/31.
My colleagues in Geneva also sent copies of the letter to relevant diplomatic missions there.
My colleagues and I hope that ECOSOC finally takes the right decision and reject the Committee's recommendation.
