AFGHANISTAN: EMMA BONINO VISITS ITALIAN CONTINGENT

Emma Bonino, leader of the EU mission for electoral monitoring, has ended her visit to the city of Herat. SHe landed at the Forward Support Base, greeted by col. Amedeo Sperotto, commander of the Italian contingent. The Italian Euro MP was taken to the city, where she met Herat province governor Sayed Hussain Anwari, Hakak, chief of AIHRC (Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission), Hugh Fulton, Regional JEMB (Joint Electoral Management Body) Coordinator, one of the candidates to the MOWA (Ministry of Women's Affairs) and Abu Diek, chief of UNAMA (United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan). After the meetings, Ms Bonino went to Camp Vianini, HQ of RAC West and of the Italian Contingent, where she was received by Gen. Mauro Del Vecchio, Commander of the International Security Assistance Force, based in Kabul, and Air Brig.Gen. Umberto Rossi, Regional Area Coordinator for NATO in western Afghanistan. She stayed their the night, and left today from FSB, accompanied by col. Paolo Massari, saluting the soldiers of the ISAF mission.
